The elevator
I was in NY to visit a friend of mine who lives in a large apartment building in the middle of town. I got there at 12:00 and talked about old times all day. I looked at my watch and I saw it was almost midnight. I couldn’t believe how fast the time went by! We said goodbye and I left.
Walked to the elevator, I saw that, for an expensive apartment building, there wasn’t much light in the halls. When I pressed the button for the elevator, I saw a bunch of guys in the hall who said good-bye to a bunch of people. They must have had a good time because they all laughed and talked. They left and went to the elevator. I looked at them and they said, Of course, being the kind person I was, I said, “hi” back. We waited there for a while until the elevator came. I could hear movement behind me, but I pretended to ignore it when I felt an arm around me and stopped the elevator and through the look in their eyes, I knew what would happen. I was scared, but deep down, I was very excited. The oldest of the men seemed to be in charge.
